Local author Robert Heilman will be at the library to share and discuss his book While Librarians Wept, A Library System Dies 1997–2017. The book brings together his writings and firsthand work documenting the long effort to protect and preserve the Douglas County Library System during years of budget cuts and reduced services.
The presentation looks at how library funding challenges unfolded over time, the community campaigns that tried to save the system, and the lessons learned along the way. This event is intended to inform, encourage, and support library advocates and community members who care about the future of public libraries.
