Cottage Grove… this one sounds like an absolute hidden gem of a Saturday afternoon.

As part of the Northwest Tandem Rally coming to Cottage Grove June 5 through 7, the community is being treated to a live performance from the incredibly talented Moon Mountain String Band at the Bohemia Park Amphitheater.

And the best part? This musical experience is being brought to the community thanks to support from the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce and an anonymous donor helping make it happen.

Moon Mountain String Band is a seven-piece bluegrass and newgrass group grown right here in the forests of western Oregon. Their sound blends traditional bluegrass roots with modern energy, rich harmonies, high lonesome melodies, and the kind of rhythm that makes you accidentally start tapping your foot before you even realize it.

Translation: your lawn chair may become a dance floor.

The band has built a strong reputation across the Pacific Northwest for their live performances, musicianship, and ability to bring people together through music. Members Zach Wallmark and Sarah Wilfong also teach music at the University of Oregon, bringing an incredible depth of musical knowledge and passion to the group.

Whether you are a longtime bluegrass fan or somebody who just wants an excuse to enjoy live music outdoors in one of the best spots in town, this feels like one of those “you’ll be glad you went” kind of events.
