Spend Sunday evening with bluesman and musical storyteller Walker T Ryan at Axe & Fiddle in downtown Cottage Grove. Ryan blends blues, folk, early rock ’n’ roll and country influences into an expressive roots-music performance built around his vocals, original songwriting and distinctive guitar work.

Ryan emerged from the 1960s Greenwich Village folk scene and is known for fingerpicked slide guitar and a storytelling approach that draws connections between different American musical traditions. His songs reflect a deep appreciation for the African roots of the blues and the many communities and characters that helped shape American roots music.

According to his official event biography, Ryan has performed with artists including Leon Russell, John Fahey, Hot Tuna, Taj Mahal, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, the Blind Boys of Alabama and John Sebastian.

This free early-evening performance is a relaxed Cottage Grove date-night option and an opportunity for local music fans to hear an experienced blues and roots performer in Axe & Fiddle’s intimate downtown setting.
