August 2026 Business of the Month: Langham’s Quality MeatWorx

Every month, our community gets the opportunity to recognize one of the local businesses that works hard, treats people right, and deserves a little extra recognition. This month, that business is Langham’s Quality MeatWorx.

After receiving an incredible 252 community votes last month, Langham’s Quality MeatWorx was officially voted Groovin’ in the Grove’s August Business of the Month!

While the shop is located in Drain, the Langham family’s roots run deep in Cottage Grove. Their story is built around faith, family, decades of experience, and a dream shared between a father and son.

I had the opportunity to ask the Langham family a few questions so we could learn more about the people behind the business, how it all began, and what makes Langham’s Quality MeatWorx special. Their answers are shared below as closely as possible to how they provided them, with only minor corrections to spelling, punctuation, and formatting.

The Langham family is deeply honored and humbled to have Langham’s Quality MeatWorx recognized as Cottage Grove’s #1 Business for the month of August. This recognition is more than an award, it reflects the incredible support of our customers, friends, neighbors, and community. We are truly grateful for the trust you have placed in our family and our business.

1. Tell us a little about yourself. Who are you outside of owning Langham's Quality Meatworx?

Brent and Janet Langham are proud to call the third-generation Langham ranch just outside Cottage Grove home. Their roots run deep in this community, and they have always believed that faith, family, and hard work are the foundation of a meaningful life.

When Brent and Janet Langham, along with their son Jeff Langham and his wife Micaiah, purchased MeatWorx, they stepped forward together in faith and commitment to continue building a family legacy. Jeff and Micaiah relocated from Harrisburg to Drain and have embraced becoming part of this wonderful community.

As a family, we enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, enjoying water sports, or visiting the Oregon coast. Above all, we treasure time together as a family. We are a Christian family, and we thank God every day for His many blessings and for the opportunity to serve others through our business.

Brent and Janet are blessed with two wonderful children. Their son, Jeff, is Brent’s business partner at Langham’s Quality MeatWorx, alongside his wife, Micaiah. They are proud parents of two sons, Hunter and Fisher. Their daughter, Brittney Masoner, and her husband, Jeff, are the proud parents of two daughters, Emilia and Ava. Family has always been at the heart of everything we do.

2. Every great business has a story. How did Langham's Quality Meatworx get started? What inspired you to open it, and what has the journey been like from the beginning until now?

Brent’s career in the meat industry began in 1983 after graduating from the Oregon Meat Cutting School in Cottage Grove. Jeff grew up helping in the family meat shop and entered the industry immediately after high school.

Although both Brent and Jeff built successful careers in the corporate world, they always shared one dream, to one day own a meat shop together. Today, that dream has become a reality, now shared with their spouses and family.

3. What makes Langham's Quality Meatworx different? If someone has never been in before, what would you want them to know? Tell us about your products, specialties, services, and what sets you apart.

Together, Brent and Jeff bring more than 60 years of combined experience to the meat industry. Janet contributes over 40 years of retail experience and is often the first friendly face customers see when they walk through our doors. Her warm smile and welcoming spirit help make every customer feel at home.

While Micaiah serves full-time as a tire shop manager for Costco, she is an invaluable part of our business. Much of her work happens behind the scenes, helping keep the business organized and running smoothly, and she steps in whenever needed with dedication and heart.

At Langham’s Quality MeatWorx, Brent and Jeff are passionate about sourcing top-quality meats at competitive prices so they can pass those savings along to their customers. Brent also operates our mobile slaughter service two days each week, serving Douglas, Lane, Coos, and Linn counties.

We are especially known for our wide variety of smoked meats and handcrafted sausages, made using recipes that Brent has been using for decades.

4. What's your favorite part of what you do? Whether it's helping a customer find the perfect cut, creating specialty products, or being part of family dinners and backyard barbecues, what brings you the most joy?

Jeff especially enjoys the retail side of the business. Whether he is preparing custom cuts, arranging the display case, creating specialty items, or sharing his passion for cooking and grilling, he takes pride in providing customers with the very best products and service.

5. What does serving the Cottage Grove community mean to you? What has the support from the community meant to your family and your business over the years?

Serving the communities of Drain, Cottage Grove, and the surrounding areas has been a tremendous blessing. Because the Langham family has called Cottage Grove home for generations, there is something special about welcoming familiar faces into the shop.

Brent enjoys reconnecting with former teachers, classmates, lifelong friends, and extended family members, while also meeting new customers who often discover shared family connections.

6. What's next for Langham's Quality Meatworx? Are there any exciting plans, new products, seasonal offerings, or future goals you'd like the community to know about?

As we approach our one-year anniversary over Labor Day weekend, we are especially thankful for everyone who has supported us during our first year in business.

Throughout this month, we will be celebrating our customers with special promotions as our way of saying thank you. We invite everyone to follow Langham’s Quality MeatWorx on Facebook for anniversary specials and upcoming events.

7. Is there anyone you'd like to thank? Whether it's family, employees, loyal customers, mentors, or others who've supported you along the way, this is your chance to recognize them.

We also want to express our heartfelt appreciation to our family and friends whose encouragement, prayers, and hard work helped make this dream possible. We are equally grateful for our incredible employees, whose dedication and commitment have become the backbone of our business.

Last year’s opening coincided with the start of hunting season, making for an exciting and unforgettable beginning. Through every challenge, our team has worked tirelessly, and they have truly become part of our family.

8. Finally, is there anything else you'd like to share with the community? This is your opportunity to share anything that's on your mind or leave a message for the community.

At Langham’s Quality MeatWorx, we believe our work is about far more than providing quality meats. It is about building relationships, serving our neighbors with integrity, honoring God through our work, and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

Brent, Jeff, and Hunter each wear a tattoo that reads, “Live a Legacy. Leave a Legacy.” Those words are more than a motto, they represent the values our family strives to live every day.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making our first year such a success. We look forward to serving familiar faces and meeting many new ones for years to come.

A Recognition Earned by the Community

This is what Business of the Month is all about.

Behind every local business is a story. In this case, it’s a story that began decades ago with the Oregon Meat Cutting School right here in Cottage Grove, a father and son who dreamed of owning a meat shop together, and a family willing to take a chance to make that dream happen.

This wasn’t picked by me. It wasn’t paid for or sponsored. This recognition was earned through the votes of our community.

Out of all the local businesses included in last month’s voting, Langham’s Quality MeatWorx rose to the top with an incredible 252 votes. That’s something worth celebrating.

If you’ve visited Langham’s Quality MeatWorx, let us know what you recommend. Whether it’s one of their handcrafted sausages, smoked meats, specialty products, or your favorite cut, your recommendation could help someone else discover their next favorite local business.

Thank you for supporting local, supporting one another, and continuing to help make Cottage Grove and the surrounding communities a little more connected.
