July 2026 Business of the Month: Purdy K Photo
Purdy K Photo has officially been voted Groovin' in the Grove's July 2026 Business of the Month.
Out of 96 local businesses nominated by the community, Purdy K Photo earned 228 votes to secure this month's title. This month's voting also set a new participation record, making it the largest Business of the Month competition we've held to date.
One of my favorite things about these monthly community polls is watching local residents rally behind businesses they know and trust. Every month more people participate, more businesses gain exposure, and more community members discover incredible local services right here in Cottage Grove. That's exactly what I hoped this program would become.
If you've spent much time in the Groovin' in the Grove community, Kendri Purdy's name has probably come up more than once. Whether someone is searching for family portraits, maternity photos, branding photography, headshots, couples sessions, or boudoir photography, Purdy K Photo has built a reputation for creating beautiful images while providing an experience that makes clients feel comfortable, confident, and cared for.

Meet Kendri Purdy
To help the community get to know the person behind Purdy K Photo, I asked Kendri a few questions about herself, how her business began, what makes her photography experience unique, and what serving the Cottage Grove community means to her.
Tell us a little about yourself! Who are you outside of being the owner of Purdy K Photo?
"I’m Kendri Purdy, a wife, mom of three, and someone who has always loved creating something new. Outside of photography, you’ll usually find me with my family, working on one of our businesses, at the gym, or dreaming up my next creative project. I love building experiences that leave people feeling seen, valued, and excited."
Tell us the story behind Purdy K Photo. How did it all begin, and what inspired you to start your business?
"Honestly, I’ve had a camera in my hands for as long as I can remember. I still have prints from elementary school where I was lining my friends up on the playground, posing them in groups, and taking their pictures. Looking back, I guess photography has always been part of who I am.
As I got older, I also experienced the disappointment that so many families unfortunately have with investing in photography. We’d spend weeks coordinating outfits, getting everyone together, planing the day to the tee to insure everyone was in a good mood , and investing in photos, only to receive the final gallery and not absolutely love the images. That feeling stuck with me.
When I officially started Purdy K Photo in 2017, I wanted to create the experience I wished my own family had. I wanted clients to feel prepared, supported, and genuinely excited from start to finish.
That’s why I’ve invested so heavily in creating an experience rather than just offering a photoshoot."
If someone has never heard of Purdy K Photo before, what would you want them to know? Feel free to tell us about your services, specialties, or anything else you'd like to share.
"I specialize in boudoir, family, couples, maternity, branding, and headshot photography. One thing that sets my studio apart is how much I provide for my clients.
I have a client closet that serves everyone from newborns to teens, as well as clothing for both men and women. I also offer professional hair and makeup, expert posing guidance, and let clients choose their own favorite images instead of making those decisions for them.
I believe photographs deserve to live somewhere other than a phone. That’s why I offer handcrafted heirloom albums built to last for generations, beautiful framed wall art, and professional prints. In a world where so many memories get buried in camera rolls, I want my clients to have something they can walk past every day or pass down to their children.
Today my studio is located across from the old Anytime Fitness building in Cottage Grove, and this October I’m incredibly excited to open a brand-new studio in the old Big Stuff building—another familiar landmark for our community.
Having a studio also allows me to photograph families year-round, especially during Oregon’s rainy months, while giving clients a comfortable, beautiful space to create memories."
What's been the most rewarding part of owning your business? Whether it's a favorite memory, a client experience, or something else entirely.
"Watching people see themselves differently.
Whether it’s a woman seeing her boudoir images for the first time, parents laughing through a family session, or a business owner finally feeling confident in front of the camera, those moments remind me why I do what I do.
Knowing I’ve created something they’ll treasure for decades is incredibly rewarding."
What do you love most about serving the Cottage Grove community?
"I love that Cottage Grove values local businesses. It’s such a supportive community, and it’s been an honor to watch families grow over the years and be invited back to photograph so many milestones.
Winning Best Business means so much because it came from the people in this community. I’m truly grateful for every person who voted and has supported Purdy K Photo throughout the years."
What are your goals for the future? Any exciting projects, upcoming events, or anything you'd like the community to know about?
"I never want to stop learning. I’m constantly investing in education, equipment, and new studio sets so I can continue offering something unique and professional to our community.
Opening my new studio this October is one of the biggest milestones yet, and I’m excited to continue growing while providing an experience that clients simply can’t find anywhere else nearby."
Is there anyone you'd like to thank or recognize for supporting you along the way?
"I’d like to thank my family specifically my mom for gifting me my first camera, my husband, my children for being such willing models- I was not a willing child model 🤪, my friends, and every client who has trusted me with their memories.
Most of all, thank you to everyone who voted for Purdy K Photo. Being recognized by my own community is an incredible honor, and I don’t take that support for granted."
Finally, is there anything else you'd like to share with the community? This is your chance to say anything that's on your mind!
"Photography isn’t just about taking pictures.. it’s about preserving stories.
Life moves quickly, children grow, loved ones age, and memories fade. My goal has always been to create photographs that become family heirlooms, not files forgotten in a phone.
