The Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing its popular Halloween Trick-or-Treat event back to Main Street, giving families a chance to celebrate the holiday while spending time in the heart of our community.

One important detail: Halloween itself falls on Saturday this year, but the Chamber's downtown trick-or-treating event is happening Friday, October 30.
What can families expect?
Participating local businesses will set up booths along the designated Main Street area and hand out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters.
Businesses are also encouraged to get creative with their booth decorations. The Chamber has announced three booth-contest categories: Scariest, Funniest, and Most Creative.
This is shaping up to be a busy community event. The Chamber has advised participating businesses to prepare enough candy for approximately 3,000 to 4,000 people. That's a planning estimate, not a final attendance number, but it's a good reason to expect plenty of Halloween activity downtown.
Tips before heading downtown
Bring a candy bag or bucket, wear comfortable walking shoes, and make sure the kids' costumes are easy to move around in. Since the event takes place outdoors in late October, it's also worth checking the weather and bringing a jacket.
Families should plan to use appropriate public parking and follow any temporary signs or instructions around the Main Street event area.

The Cottage Grove Last Friday Art Walk is scheduled for 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on October 30, immediately after the Chamber's trick-or-treating event ends.
That means families can enjoy Halloween festivities during the afternoon, then stick around to see local art and visit downtown businesses.
