What Is Nightmare on 9th Street?

If you've never heard of Nightmare on 9th Street, you're in for a little local Halloween creativity.

Instead of a large commercial haunted house, this attraction takes place in a residential yard on North 9th Street in Creswell.

Joanie Kent and participating residents transform the space into a Halloween experience for visitors to explore.

Previous years have featured themed Halloween displays, spooky decorations, mazes, and creative surprises. The organizers haven't released a complete list of the individual attractions planned for 2026, so those past features aren't guaranteed this year.

What is confirmed is that the haunted yard is returning, families are invited, and donations will benefit two local organizations.

It's the kind of grassroots community event that makes Halloween around here a little more interesting.

Halloween Fun That Supports Local Causes

One of the best things about Nightmare on 9th Street is that there's a meaningful reason behind the Halloween festivities.

Contributions collected during the attraction benefit two organizations serving our local communities.

Blue Barn Farm & Sanctuary

Blue Barn Farm & Sanctuary is a Creswell-based nonprofit dedicated to caring for rescued farm animals and promoting compassion through humane education.

The organization works to give animals a safe place to live while helping people learn more about animal welfare.

Creswell Food Pantry

The Creswell Food Pantry helps local individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Donations of food or money can help support important services right here in our community.

Blue Barn Farm & Sanctuary also plans to leave Halloween coloring sheets at the haunted yard for visitors to take home.

So whether you're stopping by with the kids or checking out the decorations with friends, this is an opportunity to enjoy Halloween and give back at the same time.

Is Nightmare on 9th Street Suitable for Kids?

The organizers specifically invite families to bring their children.

However, this is still a haunted Halloween attraction, and some displays may be frightening to younger visitors.

No official age minimum or scare-level rating has been published for the 2026 event.

Parents should use their judgment when deciding whether their children will enjoy the experience.

If your little ones are sensitive to scary decorations or surprises, consider contacting the organizers before visiting.

Make a Night of It This Halloween

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, making October 31 a great opportunity to enjoy the holiday without worrying about school the following morning for many families.

Nightmare on 9th Street opens at 5:30 PM, so there's room in the evening to fit in some other Halloween traditions as well.

Whether you're planning a night out with friends, taking the family trick-or-treating, or just looking for something different to do, the haunted yard is another local option to consider.

And since the attraction runs until 10:00 PM, you have several hours to plan your visit.

Things to Know Before You Go

A few helpful reminders for Halloween night:

  • Dress for the weather. Late October evenings in Oregon can be chilly or rainy.

  • Wear comfortable shoes. This is an outdoor haunted-yard attraction.

  • Bring a donation. The organizers suggest monetary donations or canned food.

  • Respect the neighborhood. The event takes place in a residential area, so avoid blocking driveways or disturbing nearby homes.

  • Supervise young children. Some Halloween decorations may be frightening.

  • Check for updates. Weather conditions and event arrangements could change.

The organizers have not published detailed parking instructions, accessibility arrangements, or a weather-cancellation policy in the current event announcement.

Miss Halloween Night? There's One More Evening!

If you're unable to make it on Halloween, there's still one final scheduled opportunity to visit.

Sunday, November 1, 2026

5:30 PM to 10:00 PM

November 1 is scheduled to be the last night of Nightmare on 9th Street's 2026 season.
